The feud between former Makati mayor Abby Binay and her sister, current mayor Nancy Binay, has reignited over the controversial Makati subway project and its disputed $160 million settlement.
Abby defended the settlement, saying Makati has sufficient funds and that the deal would ultimately benefit the city by giving it ownership of the subway company valued at $1.6 billion.
Meanwhile, Nancy’s administration and city legal officers called the settlement “legally flawed” and plan to file a motion to rescind it before the Singapore International Arbitration Center.
Abby also accused Nancy’s camp of using the issue to undermine her legacy and revealed they have not spoken in two decades.
Despite stepping down, Abby has already challenged Nancy in a public statement for the next elections.
