The Quezon City government has issued a warning about a fake Facebook account impersonating Mayor Joy Belmonte, which is reportedly being used to lure people into an investment scam.
The city clarified that Mayor Belmonte has never promoted any online investment platforms and urged the public not to provide personal information or click on links from the fraudulent account.
Residents are advised to contact official channels such as Helpline 122 or the city’s verified Facebook page for legitimate communication.
Mayor Belmonte’s genuine Facebook page has over 268,000 likes and only posts official city updates.
This follows a similar incident in May when another fake account was used to hack and deceive residents.
