BELMONTE SAYS RISE IN QC COVID-19 CASES REMAINS UNDER CONTROL

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said 107 mild Covid-19 cases were recorded from May 21 to July 1, but assured residents that the increase is not a cause for alarm as there is no evidence of clustering or severe illness.

The Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division reported that most patients experienced only influenza-like symptoms, while the City Health Department continues to provide medical care and monitor the situation closely.

Test samples have been submitted to the Department of Health for genome sequencing to identify the circulating COVID-19 variant.

The DOH said the reported spike was limited to specific areas and cautioned against interpreting the 256-percent increase without considering the relatively small number of cases, noting that infections remain significantly lower than during the same period last year.

Health authorities continue to urge the public to practice preventive measures, seek medical attention when symptoms develop, and remain vigilant without panicking.
