BASTE DUTERTE’S REMARKS AGAINST DAVAO POLICE CHIEF SPARK PNP GRADUATES’ FURY

Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte’s threat to slap Police Regional Office 11 director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III has sparked outrage among Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) graduates.

The graduates, known as the Lakan Community, are rallying in support of Torre, a member of their class, condemning the mayor’s verbal attacks as a form of bullying and harassment.

Duterte had criticized Torre for allegedly reshuffling police personnel in Davao City without his knowledge and accused him of manipulating crime statistics.

In response, Torre ordered the relief of 100 police officers and is leading a manhunt for Apollo Quiboloy, a controversial figure with connections to the Duterte family.

The Lakan Community expressed strong support for Torre, denouncing the mayor’s behavior as unjust and harmful to the police force’s reform efforts.
