A barangay official has filed a nepotism complaint with the Ombudsman against Borbon Mayor Noel Dotillos, alleging that he appointed his wife, Dr. Corazon Dotillos, as a municipal health consultant without proper authorization.
Village chief Margarito Ornopia Jr. claims the mayor violated the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act by hiring his wife without municipal council approval and renewing her consultancy contract multiple times, despite recommendations for another candidate.
Ornopia is seeking the mayor’s preventive suspension and the filing of administrative and criminal charges, citing undue financial benefits from Dr. Dotillos’s P3,500 daily salary.
In response, Mayor Dotillos defended the appointment, arguing it falls under exemptions to nepotism laws for certain professionals and suggesting the complaint is politically motivated as he runs for vice mayor in the upcoming elections.
Dotillos dismissed the allegations as part of ongoing political maneuvering, asserting his actions were legally sound.
