Former senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan are banking on strong voter support in Panay Island, a key bailiwick that backed them, and former vice president Leni Robredo in past elections.
The region, comprising Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, and Guimaras, delivered significant wins for Aquino in 2019 and for Pangilinan in 2022.
Their camp highlighted the endorsement of prominent Panay leaders, including former Senate president Franklin Drilon and Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
Aquino, who passed 50 laws during his Senate tenure, aims to rally grassroots support through volunteer-driven events.
A campaign kickoff was held Thursday at the Iloilo Sports Complex, marking the start of their bid to reclaim Senate seats.
