The Bureau of Immigration (BI) believes dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo remains in Indonesia with her brother Wesley, following the arrest of her sister Sheila and associate Cassandra Li Ong.
Indonesian authorities detained Sheila and Ong at a mall in Batam, and the BI suspects the group left the Philippines illegally, based on fraudulent documents and a luggage tag with Alice Guo’s name.
The BI is confident Indonesian immigration will help locate and return Alice and Wesley Guo to the Philippines.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and other officials are investigating the circumstances of their escape and the handling of their departure, with discussions planned on the legal and procedural aspects.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla cautioned against canceling Guo’s passport for now, as it may complicate efforts to bring her back, while the Philippine National Police continues to monitor her movements abroad.
