Filipino tennis sensation Alexandra Eala pulled off a stunning upset against world No. 2 Iga Swiatek, winning 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the Miami Open semifinals.
The 19-year-old wildcard held her composure to rally from 4-5 down in the second set, securing her biggest career victory yet.
Eala, a product of the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy, has now defeated three Grand Slam champions in the tournament, including Madison Keys and Jelena Ostapenko.
Her semifinal opponent will be either Emma Raducanu or Jessica Pegula, marking her first WTA 1000 semifinal appearance.
“I’m on cloud nine,” Eala said, thanking fans for their support in her historic run.
