ALEX EALA AIMS TO REGAIN FORM IN WTA MADRID CAMPAIGN

The Philippines’ rising tennis star Alexandra Eala is aiming to rebound at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open after suffering back-to-back early exits in her opening clay-court tournaments this season.

Currently ranked world No. 45, Eala recently fell to Leylah Fernandez in the first round of the Stuttgart Open, following another early loss at the Linz Open.

Her recent struggles came after a points drop from the Miami Open, where she was unable to defend her strong previous-year performance, causing a slide in her rankings.

Eala previously reached the round of 64 in Madrid, where she lost to then-world No. 2 Iga Swiatek.

She now looks to regain form and make a deeper run in the Madrid tournament scheduled from April 21 to May 3.
