House prosecution spokesperson and Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte was based on her official records, financial accounts, declarations, and documented actions.
Adiong rejected claims that prosecutors fabricated allegations against Duterte, saying the evidence came from documents linked to her office and her own recorded statements.
He said the allegations involving confidential funds were based on instructions that prosecutors claimed came from the vice president.
The remaining impeachment article on unexplained wealth relies on her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth, bank documents, Anti-Money Laundering Council records, tax filings and corporate records.
Duterte’s defense has disputed the prosecution’s interpretation of the evidence and will have the opportunity to present its side when the trial resumes.
