Advertising agency DDB Philippines has issued a public apology for using non-original and stock footage in the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) video promoting the Philippines’ new tourism slogan, ‘Love The Philippines.’
Accusations had surfaced, suggesting that some of the video clips featured in the presentation were sourced from locations outside the Philippines, including Indonesia, Thailand, and Dubai.
The agency expressed their apologies to the DOT and accepted full responsibility for the matter.
DDB clarified that the video was meant for internal stakeholders and was self-funded, with no public funds involved.
However, the use of foreign stock footage received criticism for contradicting the campaign’s purpose.
In response to the controversy, the Department of Tourism announced on Saturday that it had launched an extensive investigation into DDB’s alleged use of stock footage.
The DOT also vowed to hold DDB accountable and take appropriate action to safeguard the nation’s interests, while continuing efforts to develop and promote the Philippine tourism industry.
DDB acknowledged the oversight and pledged to cooperate with the DOT’s investigation. Moreover, the video has been removed from public platforms.
The DOT assured the public of its commitment to accountability and protecting the country’s interests while supporting the tourism industry’s growth.
