The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) is urging the government to include LGU contractual workers in the recently increased P7,000 gratuity pay approved for national government employees. ACT criticized the exclusion of LGU workers, emphasizing their significant contributions and calling for equal pay and regularization for all contractual workers. The gratuity pay adjustment comes after a similar increase in 2021, with amounts pro-rated for shorter service durations. ACT labeled the pay as a “band-aid solution” and reiterated the need for secure tenure and equitable benefits. President Marcos approved the increase as a token of appreciation for satisfactory service.
