Around 149,896 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Western Visayas will receive electricity bill discounts through the Department of Energy’s Lifeline Rate Program.
The initiative, launched Friday with Energy Secretary Sharon Garin and Undersecretary Mylene Capongcol in attendance, aims to ease the utility burden of low-income households.
Beneficiaries consuming up to 50 kilowatt-hours per month will get a full 100% discount, while those exceeding the limit will receive partial discounts based on usage.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development will provide the list of qualified families to electric cooperatives, eliminating the need for additional paperwork.
Iloilo has the largest number of beneficiaries at 76,310, followed by Capiz, Antique, Aklan, and Guimaras.
