Vice President Sara Duterte visited Samar province over the weekend for a two-day “Visita Iglesia” pilgrimage, where she thanked supporters who continue to pray for her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
She shared that many residents expressed their hopes for her father’s return from The Hague, where he faces charges before the International Criminal Court.
While in Samar, Sara prayed for the country and her father, but refrained from commenting on his legal case, citing lawyer-client confidentiality.
The vice president’s visit to Samar was unannounced, and she surprised locals by attending Masses at various churches, including Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Calbayog City and others in the region.
This marked her first Visita Iglesia in the province, a region traditionally aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with whom she has had a public falling out.
