Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte are among the personalities included in OCTA Research’s preliminary list of preferred senatorial candidates for the 2028 elections.
The survey recorded 42% voter preference for Sotto and 36% for Duterte in a hypothetical Senate race. Both mayors have yet to announce whether they intend to run for senator.
Sotto previously said he was not inclined to seek another public position, while his current mayoral term is limited by term restrictions.
OCTA cautioned that voter preferences may change as political alliances, campaign developments, and potential candidacies evolve before the elections.
