The comedy trio of Tito, Vic, and Joey (TVJ) have called on TAPE Inc. to respect the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines’ (IPOPHL) decision regarding the “Eat Bulaga” and “EB” trademarks.
The IPOPHL ruled that TVJ, and not TAPE, are the rightful owners and originators of these trademarks, giving them exclusive rights to register them.
TVJ emphasized that Joey de Leon coined the names in 1979 and TAPE president Romeo Jalosjos Jr. corroborated their claim.
While acknowledging TAPE’s right to appeal, TVJ hopes they will respect the IPOPHL’s decision and acknowledge TVJ as the rightful creators of the “Eat Bulaga” brand.
