Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto revealed that two of the country’s top flood-control contractors, Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor and St. Timothy Construction Corp., are linked to his former political rival, Sarah Discaya.
These firms are among the few awarded flood control projects across almost all regions, receiving billions in government contracts.
Sotto accused the contractors of corruption involving procurement irregularities, substandard materials, tax delinquencies, and fraud, and pledged to pursue legal action while reporting these issues to President Marcos.
The Discaya family owns several construction companies in Pasig, some of which have faced previous government sanctions and allegations of contract delays.
President Marcos earlier disclosed that 15 contractors received 20% of the P545 billion flood control budget, prompting an ongoing audit into these projects amid public concerns over their effectiveness.
