Former Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Tarlac, has been hit with a tax evasion complaint from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for allegedly failing to pay P500,000 in taxes on the sale of her shares in a company linked to a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) complex.
This complaint adds to her legal troubles, which include a criminal charge for human trafficking and a Senate-issued arrest warrant for missing hearings on the banned industry.
The BIR complaint also names Jack Uy and Rachelle Carreon of Baofu Land Development Inc., which owns the property where the Pogo hub was built, alleging Guo’s involvement in the transaction.
BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. led the complaint filing, asserting that Guo should still be considered the owner of Baofu due to the unpaid taxes.
Lumagui emphasized that Guo is responsible for settling the capital gains and documentary stamp taxes related to the sale.
