The Office of the Ombudsman has lifted the six-month preventive suspension of GSIS President Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso and four other officials related to the P1.45-billion Alternergy Holdings share deal, ordering their reinstatement.
The decision was based on the review of case records, which found insufficient grounds to believe their continued service would prejudice the investigation.
However, two officials no longer connected with GSIS remain unaffected by this order.
Veloso welcomed the decision, affirming his professionalism and intention to continue safeguarding GSIS funds.
The suspension was originally imposed due to allegations of grave misconduct linked to the unauthorized acquisition of preferred shares without board approval.
