Bagabag Vice Mayor Johny Sevillena and nine Sangguniang Bayan members plan to file a motion for review with the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Board against a six-month suspension imposed by Governor Jose Gambito.
The suspension stems from a complaint by Bagabag Mayor Benigno Calauad, accusing them of dereliction of duty and grave abuse of authority for allegedly failing to act on key legislation, including delaying the 2023 municipal budget.
Mayor Calauad also claimed illegal budget insertions and questioned increases in the appropriation ordinance.
Sevillena and the councilors dispute the mayor’s allegations and seek a legal review.
