The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee will summon former Speaker Martin Romualdez and resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co to its investigation on the flood control scam, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson said.
Co, now a private citizen, may be subpoenaed and cited in contempt if he refuses to attend, while Romualdez will be formally invited through Speaker Faustino Dy III.
Lacson stressed the probe would continue impartially and without shielding anyone, amid criticisms from Sen. Francis Escudero that senators were being scapegoated while House leaders were spared.
The Department of Justice has filed criminal complaints against several senators in connection with the scandal, while the Independent Commission for Infrastructure has recommended charges against Co and 17 others over a P289.5-million dike project.
Malacañang also urged Co to return and face the allegations, as the DOJ awaits Interpol’s response to its “blue notice” request.
