SENATE RESOLUTION URGES STRONG STANCE AGAINST CHINA IN WEST PHILIPPINE SEA

The Senate is planning to pass a resolution that strongly condemns the actions of China in the West Philippine Sea.

They are concerned about how Chinese Coast Guard and militia ships have been causing trouble for Filipino fishermen in that area.

Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, made this announcement after an executive session with other senators and key government officials on Monday.

They discussed two proposed resolutions on the West Philippine Sea issues and decided to merge them into one.

Senator Risa Hontiveros emphasized that the resolution will reflect the Senate’s stance, which puts the interests of Filipinos first.

They want to show their disapproval of China’s actions and prioritize their claims in the region.

The resolution will also suggest various ways the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) can assert these claims and bring the matter to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Overall, the senators are working together to make sure the resolution sends a clear message that the Filipino people’s desires are being heard and respected.
