Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo of Tarlac, citing trauma, is not planning to attend the Senate hearing on July 10, according to her lawyer Stephen David.
However, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian warned that Guo could be arrested for contempt if she fails to comply with the subpoena.
Guo, who has reportedly left Tarlac due to concerns over surveillance, could attend the hearing via Zoom if her health permits.
The Senate is investigating alleged human trafficking linked to Guo and her siblings, with the possibility of questioning the legality of the probe being considered.
Meanwhile, debates continue over the presence of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), with calls for a ban from some lawmakers and opposition from others, citing potential negative impacts on compliant operators.
