Malacañang clarified that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had no role in his son, Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, deciding to inhibit himself from all House Committee on Rules proceedings related to the impeachment complaints filed against the president.
Sandro Marcos announced he would recuse himself from discussions on the impeachment but continue fulfilling his duties as House majority leader in other matters, a move praised by PCOO Undersecretary Claire Castro as a demonstration of decency and statesmanship.
Two verified impeachment complaints against the president, filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus and endorsed by Pusong Pinoy and the Makabayan bloc, have been referred to the House Committee on Justice.
Castro emphasized that the president respects the House process and will not allow attempts to unseat him to hinder his duties.
She also assured the public that the complaints will not stop the president from continuing efforts to improve the lives of Filipinos.
