The Sandiganbayan has denied Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s motion to dismiss the graft charges against him related to the 2014 Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) case.
In a resolution issued on March 26, the court’s Special Fifth Division also rejected his demurrer to evidence, stating that the prosecution presented sufficient proof to proceed.
Estrada argued that there was no evidence linking him to the alleged graft violations, but the court ruled otherwise and set the presentation of evidence for April 22.
The senator had previously been acquitted of plunder in January 2024 but was initially found guilty of bribery and indirect bribery before being cleared of those charges in August 2024.
This latest ruling means Estrada must continue facing graft charges under the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
