House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez praised the 6.3 percent GDP growth in the second quarter of 2024, attributing it to the effective economic policies of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and strong legislative support.
Romualdez highlighted significant growth in the industry and services sectors, which he believes reflects Filipinos’ confidence in the economy.
Albay Rep. Joey Salceda noted that despite a challenging global economic environment, the Philippine economy remains robust, with key sectors like construction and capital formation showing strong performance.
However, Salceda also expressed concern over a 2.3 percent decline in the agricultural sector, attributed to adverse weather conditions.
Both Romualdez and Salceda agreed on the need for continued focus on infrastructure, public services, and support for agriculture to sustain growth and improve the lives of Filipinos.
