REMULLA: ‘BIG FISH’ IN CORRUPTION PROBE NEXT AS HUNT FOR ZALDY CO INTENSIFIES

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the government expects to arrest “big fish,” including senators and congressmen linked to the multibillion-peso flood control corruption scam, within five weeks, stressing that no special treatment will be given.

Several suspects remain at large abroad, including alleged mastermind and former Ako Bicol representative Zaldy Co, whom authorities are tracking across multiple countries.

Remulla and the PNP warned individuals against harboring fugitives, noting that some may face obstruction of justice charges after one suspect was found in a Mindoro vice mayor’s home.

Meanwhile, six detained public works officials are being held at the New Quezon City Jail, where BJMP officials assured equal treatment and standard living conditions for all inmates.

At the Senate, lawmakers and the DFA discussed possible legal steps regarding Co’s passport, while Quezon City Rep. Arjo Atayde and Caloocan Rep. Dean Asistio denied involvement in the alleged kickbacks during a closed-door ICI hearing.
