Senator Alan Peter Cayetano revealed during a Senate committee hearing that the cost of constructing the new Senate building could escalate to as much as P29 billion, surpassing the initial estimate of P23 billion that led Senate President Francis Escudero to halt the project.
Cayetano, chairing the accounts committee, expressed concerns over the potential increase, suggesting the final cost might range from P26 billion to P29 billion, pending verification of previous estimates.
