President Marcos rejected calls to abolish the government’s anti-insurgency task force, NTF-ELCAC, citing its success in reducing security risks from communist rebels.
Human Rights Watch and Karapatan urged the termination of the task force, labeling it as “abusive” and accusing it of red-baiting and spreading misinformation.
Despite the Supreme Court’s ruling against red-tagging, Marcos emphasized the task force’s role in aiding former insurgents and diminishing internal security threats.
He affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing NTF-ELCAC’s operations to assist more communities and former rebels.
The National Security Council lauded the task force as pivotal in defeating the New People’s Army and bringing peace closer.
