President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) to act swiftly and deliver long-term solutions to farmers’ concerns, especially in irrigation.
Speaking at the turnover ceremony of 229 newly procured NIA equipment and vehicles in Taguig, Marcos emphasized that farmers are the “foundation of the nation” and deserve responsive government support.
The equipment forms part of the NIA refleeting program aimed at accelerating irrigation projects to boost agricultural productivity.
Marcos urged NIA personnel to maintain the machinery properly to ensure efficient service delivery, especially amid climate change challenges.
The new equipment will help address canal siltation, structure repairs, and the transport of heavy machinery for irrigation work.
