The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) announced that 31 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Leyte Regional Prison underwent pre-parole interviews, bringing them closer to potential release.
Conducted by the DOJ-Parole and Probation Administration, the evaluation assessed their conduct, rehabilitation progress, and readiness for reintegration into society.
This initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to decongest prisons and support the reintegration of reformed individuals.
In January alone, BuCor released 525 PDLs from various correctional facilities nationwide, bringing the total number of releases under the Marcos administration to 18,947.
Among those released were inmates from the Correctional Institution for Women, New Bilibid Prison, and multiple regional penal farms.
