Over 40,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel have been deployed nationwide to secure transport hubs, churches, and tourist sites this Holy Week, per President Marcos’ directive for safe and smooth travel.
The PNP, under heightened alert until June, is enforcing a “no leave” policy, with 10,000 officers stationed in Metro Manila and 840 from the Highway Patrol Group managing road safety across critical zones.
Authorities are also monitoring the influx of passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which handles over 150,000 travelers daily, prompting expanded immigration lanes and heightened airport security.
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed all 44 of its airports are operating 24/7 to accommodate the surge, while top tourist spots like Boracay, Bohol, and Palawan are bracing for millions of visitors.
Meanwhile, health workers staged a Holy Week-themed protest demanding higher wages and better working conditions, criticizing the Marcos administration’s unfulfilled promises.
