The Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating the reported disappearance of retired police general Jerry Valeroso, who previously testified against former senator Leila de Lima in drug cases that were later dismissed by the court.
PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil confirmed that authorities are gathering information on Valeroso’s whereabouts, last seen on April 6 in Cavite with a bodyguard.
Valeroso’s wife, Nida, has appealed to the public for help, saying her husband has been missing for nearly two months.
Valeroso initially accused De Lima of receiving drug money during her time as Justice secretary, but later retracted his claims, stating his recantation aimed to free those wrongfully charged.
The PNP said it will provide updates as the investigation continues.
