PNP DEPLOYS MORE POLICEWOMEN TO BARANGAYS AMID RISING VAWC REPORTS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more policewomen to barangays in response to rising reports of violence against women and children (VAWC).

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. noted that the increase in calls to the Unified 911 hotline reflects growing public trust and awareness of available support.

In 2025, the hotline received over 5,000 VAWC-related reports, averaging up to 500 calls per month. The additional policewomen aim to provide victims with empathetic assistance and improve response times for sensitive cases.

Nartatez emphasized that PNP units remain on standby 24/7 to address these emergencies.
