The Philippines is set to produce its defense assets, starting with high-powered drones and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) to enhance the Philippine Navy’s asymmetric warfare capabilities.
This initiative was highlighted during the launch of the Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) Forum, supporting Republic Act 12024, which promotes local development of defense equipment for military and commercial use.
The Philippine Navy aims to leverage these technologies to improve tactical missions, including search and rescue, reconnaissance, and surveillance.
Capt. Gregory Fabic emphasized the focus on drones and USVs to reduce human risk while expanding operational reach.
This marks a significant step in showcasing Filipino engineering and robotics in national defense.
