The Philippines and the European Union have agreed to establish a security and defense dialogue to tackle shared global threats such as cyberattacks, misinformation, and maritime tensions.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized the importance of upholding a rules-based international order during a joint press briefing.
The dialogue will serve as a platform for cooperation in areas like maritime security, counterterrorism, and crisis response.
President Marcos welcomed the initiative during Kallas’ courtesy call in Malacañang, highlighting the value of partnerships based on shared democratic values.
Meanwhile, the Philippines is also pursuing stronger defense ties with Japan, Ukraine, and the Netherlands through bilateral meetings at the Shangri-La Dialogue.
