PHILIPPINES AVOIDS PROVOCATION DESPITE CHINA COAST GUARD INCIDENTS

Philippine Navy spokesman Commodore Roy Vincent Trinidad condemned the “barbaric” actions of the China Coast Guard (CCG) during a recent confrontation, accusing them of piracy and provocations intended to elicit a violent response from the Philippines.

Despite dangerous attacks and forcible boarding that injured several Filipinos, the Navy has been instructed to use force only in self-defense.

The military is preparing for future resupply missions to Ayungin Shoal, emphasizing a rules-based approach amid China’s aggressive territorial claims.

Trinidad highlighted the broader issue of China’s encroachment into the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and praised international support, notably from Japan, in addressing the conflict.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) awarded its personnel for their role in these missions, reaffirming their commitment to peaceful and humanitarian operations.
