PH ROBOTICS TEAM FROM BULACAN HEADS TO GREECE FOR GLOBAL COMPETITION

A team of eight students from Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc. (DYCI) in Bulacan is set to compete in the First Lego League Open European Championship in Greece on May 2-4, 2025.

Their project, a robot made of acrylic and Lego bricks, is designed to detect and mitigate harmful algae blooms, a problem that has affected places like Manila Bay and Boracay.

The team has received financial support from former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson, who expressed his desire to help young Filipino innovators gain international recognition.

DYCI has a strong track record in robotics, with 115 local and international trophies since integrating robotics into its curriculum in 2008.

While the competition offers no prize money, Singson promised to reward the students upon their return, win or lose.
