A petition for a temporary restraining order against the construction of the new Pasig City Hall has been filed with the city’s regional trial court by Alejandro dela Vega Sanoy.
Sanoy’s 39-page petition argues that the allocated P9.6 billion for the city hall project could have been better used for community-based healthcare improvements and cites the lack of response to a proposal for primary healthcare.
He seeks to annul several resolutions and ordinances related to the project, including those authorizing contracts and allocating supplemental budgets.
Sanoy’s legal action follows a recent confrontation where Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto faced protesters who turned out to be from Quezon City.
Sotto has indicated he is open to addressing concerns but was surprised by the protest’s origin and purpose.
