PERJURY, CYBERLIBEL COMPLAINTS FILED AGAINST BALIGOD, 18 FORMER SOLDIERS

ML party-list Rep. Leila de Lima, Ramon Magsaysay awardee Fr. Flavie Villanueva, and Bureau of Corrections chief Gregorio Catapang filed complaints of perjury and cyberlibel against lawyer Levi Baligod and 18 mostly former Marines who alleged delivering billions in cash to politicians.

De Lima denied receiving any money, calling the allegations of paper bags and suitcases filled with cash “lies” meant to discredit her and victim support programs like Arnold Janssen Kalinga Center and Program Paghilom.

Villanueva condemned attempts to tarnish the reputations of those aiding families affected by the Duterte administration’s drug war.

Catapang separately lodged complaints and requested the Supreme Court to disbar Baligod for spreading false statements regarding detainee funds and “ghost” projects.

The filings highlight ongoing legal battles over the controversial “suitcase cash” claims, with De Lima urging accountability and truth from the former soldiers and their lawyer.
