A former Sangguniang Kabataan chairman and a Malaysian were arrested in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, following a sting operation that seized high-grade marijuana, or kush, worth P70.8 million.
The suspects, identified as Jerry and Chomen, were caught in Barangay Pasiagan selling an undetermined amount of kush to undercover PDEA agents.
Authorities recovered several vacuum-sealed bags containing dried marijuana leaves, stalks, and fruiting tops, along with marked money.
PDEA-Bangsamoro chief Gil Cesario Castro said the suspects had been under surveillance before the operation.
The arrest underscores ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
