President Marcos and military officials convened at Malacañang to discuss the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept, aiming to bolster the military’s capabilities to safeguard the Philippines’ exploration of marine resources within its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. highlighted the transition of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to ensure unimpeded resource exploration.
The conference addressed recent Chinese incursions in the West Philippine Sea and emphasized the importance of upholding sovereignty.
Additionally, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to acquire five vessels from Japan to bolster maritime security, while the joint military exercise “Kasangga” between the Philippines and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) aims to enhance operational capabilities and combat terrorism.
