PALACE: TOO EARLY TO CONSIDER POST-UNITEAM POLITICAL ALLIANCE

Malacañang said it is too early to comment on proposals to form a new political alliance similar to the UniTeam that backed President Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte in 2022, following suggestions from former senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that no discussions on a possible alliance with former rivals, including Leni Robredo’s “Kakampinks,” have reached the president.

The statement comes after the collapse of the UniTeam due to personal grievances, policy disagreements, and Duterte’s resignation as Education secretary in June 2024.

Castro also framed the impeachment complaints filed against Marcos as an attack on the administration, while stressing that the president respects Congress and will continue his duties.

She assured the public that the complaints would not prevent Marcos from pursuing his work to improve the lives of Filipinos.
