The Philippine Air Force (PAF) will celebrate its 78th founding anniversary on July 1 with a live capability demonstration at Villamor Air Base, which President Marcos Jr. is expected to attend.
This year’s theme, “Focus PAF @78,” reflects the Air Force’s transition from internal security operations to territorial defense, aligning with the Armed Forces’ Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept.
PAF Chief Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura emphasized the need to shift mindsets and capabilities to better safeguard the country’s airspace and Exclusive Economic Zone.
Unlike last year’s grand celebration, this year’s event will be more austere but meaningful, according to PAF spokesperson Col. Ma Consuelo Castillo.
In the lead-up to the anniversary, the PAF organized outreach programs, mall exhibits, a youth leadership summit, and a painting contest featuring winning entries during the celebration.
