P30 BILLION MILITARY PENSION APPROVED FOR RELEASE BY DBM

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the release of P30.41 billion for the military and uniformed personnel (MUP) pensions for the first quarter of 2025.

Of the total amount, P16.75 billion has been allocated to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, while nearly P13.3 billion was distributed to various agencies under the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Additionally, P8.53 million was provided to 34 pensioners from the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority, and P350.68 million was released to 2,836 retired personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard.

The fund was based on the actual pension payroll submitted by agencies at the end of last year, and it is chargeable to the 2025 national budget’s pension and gratuity fund.

Meanwhile, two senators raised concerns about potential discrepancies in the 2025 national budget, particularly regarding the Department of Agriculture.
