Former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has promised to provide more information on alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) when the House of Representatives addresses the issue in a committee hearing rescheduled for mid-October.
He announced the postponement of his appearance, originally set for September 27, on his Facebook page, citing the need for additional time to prepare his testimony.
Cebu City Councilor Pastor “Jun” Alcover Jr. questioned Osmeña’s credibility to speak on EJKs, referencing 202 reported cases during Osmeña’s administration in 2009.
Osmeña, however, stated that he has gathered extensive information from victims and records and encouraged others with relevant information to contact him privately.
He previously participated as a resource speaker in a hearing focused on Philippine offshore gaming operators, where he indicated that more individuals were coming forward with their accounts related to EJKs.
