OSG SEEKS DISMISSAL OF PETITION AGAINST PHILHEALTH FUND TRANSFER

The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has requested the Supreme Court dismiss a petition to block the transfer of ₱89.9 billion from PhilHealth to the national treasury.

Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra argued that the transfer, mandated by Department of Finance Circular No. 003-2024 and the 2024 General Appropriation Act, is legal and constitutional.

He contended that the petition filed by Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III and others had procedural and substantive flaws.

Guevarra also asserted that the remittance would not disrupt PhilHealth’s mandate or negatively impact public health services.

The petition sought to halt the fund transfer, which was ordered to align with the 2024 budget law.
