Newly installed Senator Erwin Tulfo called for the Senate to hear the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte instead of dismissing it outright, saying bypassing a trial could violate the Constitution.
Tulfo emphasized the public’s right to transparency and insisted that a fair trial is necessary before making any judgment.
He warned that evading the process could legally implicate the Senate and leave lingering doubts over Duterte’s office.
Tulfo vowed to defend the impeachment if evidence is credible, but would also be the first to call for its dismissal if found baseless.
Alongside his statement, Tulfo also filed his first 10 priority bills, focusing on agriculture, education, health, and governance reforms.
