NEW PROGRAM AIMS TO EQUIP HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH TECH SKILLS

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have launched the “Kids for the Future of Philippine Industrialization” program to equip junior and senior high school students with technology skills.

The initiative aims to prepare a future-ready workforce in animation, game development, and software development to meet the demands of the Philippine IT sector.

Outgoing Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual highlighted the program’s role in fostering innovation and preparing Filipino students for leadership in various industries, including IT, aerospace, and renewable energy.

Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara noted that the program will benefit 20 million learners by promoting technology and innovation.

The pilot phase will begin in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
