NEW CLARK CITY TO HOST SOLAR MICROGRID, WASTE-TO-ENERGY PLANT

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has partnered with Filipino tech firm CostPlus, Inc. to accelerate the shift toward clean, renewable, and smart energy solutions in New Clark City.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding that will allow feasibility studies for sustainable energy projects across BCDA-managed estates.

The initiative includes a five-megawatt microgrid system powered by solar energy, battery storage, and hybrid technologies, as well as a waste-to-energy (WTE) facility capable of processing 20 metric tons of waste daily.

The WTE plant will produce compressed natural gas for public transport and high-grade fertilizers as by-products.

BCDA President Joshua Bingcang said the collaboration shows that “green innovation and economic growth go hand in hand,” as CostPlus also donated an electric bus to support sustainable mobility
